TRANSPORT
Transport from SNA (John Wayne Santa Ana Airport) to UCI:
The closest airport to UCI is John Wayne Santa Ana Airport. A taxi to UCI takes about 15 minutes and costs $15–20 each way.
Transport from LAX (Los Angeles International Airport) to UCI:
1. The fastest way is to take Uber/Lyft.
Depending on traffic conditions and the time of the day, a taxi ride takes about 1.5 hours and costs $60–100. You have to take the airport's free shuttle service (LAX-it) to the ride app pickup area. It is recommended that you book your Uber/Lyft only when you arrive at the ride app pickup area.
2. Public transportation from LAX takes approximately 2.5 hours in total.
Take the FlyAway shuttle bus from LAX to LA Union station ($9.75) and transfer to the train (regular: $10; student: $7.50). The two train stations that serve UCI are Tustin and Irvine. There is limited train service throughout the day. It is highly recommended that you check the train schedule to plan your route. Train tickets can be purchased at LA Union Station or on board the train with the Metrolink app. From Tustin or Irvine station, you can take a 15–minute Uber/Lyft ride to UCI (approx. $15).
